KRK ROKIT RP8 G4 STUDIO MONITORS
Until today I listen to music in DAW via my headphones. You need to be able to hear the sound with good volume but also covering low and high frequencies without damaging your ears.
Time to go for studio monitors. I have no unlimited budget so I wanted o look for reasonable priced monitors with a good quality sound.
If you’re buying audio equipment, one of the primary choices that you’ll have to make is whether you want active or passive speakers. All speakers fit into one of these categories, and the difference between them isn’t always obvious.
What Are Active Speakers?
An active speaker is a speaker with a built-in amplifier. They are often referred to as powered speakers because they need to be plugged into a socket or battery. They don’t need any additional components to produce audio, and you can plug your audio devices into them directly.
What Are Passive Speakers?
A passive speaker is a speaker without a built-in amplifier. In order to work, they need to be connected to an amplifier. They are powered by the amplifier and therefore don’t need to be plugged in tot the 220 volt power net. In order to use passive speakers, you need to connect your audio devices to the amplifier.
My Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 audio-interface has a built in pre-amplifier so I have to go for active monitors.
Making a choice, looking at specs, comparing and getting advice.
